intricate string installations and geometric drawings by sebastien preschoux -

geometric installations by the artist are created with no particular graphic guide to begin with. instead, preschoux develops his thread sculptures spontaneously, starting with a center point in which the artist affixes a gathering of string, leading out to various endpoints from this epicenter. from this process, unique sweeping and intricate shapes are actualized in the environment. the artist’s string installations are made permanent by the images made by photographer friend ludovic le couster. the photos are captured with strategic lighting placed in such a way that the stretched pieces of thread become vibrant stills.

“Constructed from incense ash collected from Shanghai temples, this medium has multiple significations: it is the substance of prayers, the dust of death and rebirth, the allegorical weight of spirits. Emitting an overwhelming scent throughout the gallery space this piece recycles the hopes and wishes of others…”

Pinter is interested in the representation of a world in tension between stasis and movement, and particularly to the breath, the “pneuma.”
